YOUR MOTIVATIONAL 'Quick Tip of The Week'; "Target Practice"

Many times we find that we're noticeably out of sorts. Dragging our feet and feeling as though our "get up and go - simply got up and left". When it comes to taking the necessary steps toward accomplishing the goals we've set for ourselves...sometimes, we're just not feeling it. Let's face it, occasionally even Bill Gates has a down day every once and a while. But when our energy, enthusiasm and zeal  have seemingly LEFT THE BUILDING for an extended period of time, trust me...SOMETHINGS UP!

When choosing your goals, it's important to ask yourself these three questions:
1) Am I aiming for this because I've always had a deep, insatiable longing to achieve it; or is it possible I'm chasing what I believe is expected of me?
2) When I finally reach my destination, will I feel fulfilled Physically, Emotionally an Spiritually - or will the end result possibly leave me longing for something more?
3) Am I having any fun? If the pursuit of what you THOUGHT you wanted is leaving you listless, dull and depressed, your aim may be off!

IF you answered yes questions 1 - 2 or BOTH -  take a break, period! Often, burn out is what you're experiencing and a short rest is all you need to renew your spirit and reboot your energy systems.Sometimes it's not that your heading in the wrong direction, but that the way you're going about may need to be changed.
Check out my Archives and Read "Are you moving forward, or just Spinning your wheels", this should help to provide some practical applications if you find yourself in this category.Stay strong and fight to the finish. The harder the goal is to acquire, the sweeter the victory.

HOWEVER, IF you answered yes to number 3 (or worse, ALL THREE)...I fear you may need a bit more target practice! While everyone will experience some degree of  burnout every now and then, causing us to wonder if we're off track or just  frayed around the edges ....the idea that you may be depressed, lifeless and uninspired all together - finding no joy in the process of your pursuit, it's time to re-evaluate and there's NOTHING BUT GOOD NEWS THERE! IT takes a lot of guts to say you just don't have it right, then to tragically stay the "Wrong Course" and get what you were aiming for!!!
The only thing worse than doing something you hate for one day - it's doing it for two days!
This is your life and there's always time for more Target Practice!

Until next time...shoot for the center and follow your dreams.

MONDAY’S MOTIVATIONAL MINUTE: “STOP - Are You Just Spinning Your Wheels”?

STOP! Please - Just STOP for a few short minutes. If you're interested in moving forward with your life, you have no choice but to do so by achieving NEW goals! Want to add a new dimension to your life, change your trajectory or just maybe, you're actually considering going after some of those left over, (though quickly fading) New Year's Resolutions??? If you resemble any of these remarks, then accomplishing new goals is a MUST. So, Stop (ever so briefly) whatever you're doing and read this article. Take a few moments in order to do a quick assessment and take your own inventory.

How are you actually, really spending your time? Take this moment and look closely at where you're heading. If you want to move forward, achieve your goals and step up to where you 'say' you want to be, then this short TIME OUT may well prove to be priceless.

OK, set your timers. I'm putting myself on the clock and promising to make it quick.

First, if you're driven to succeed, then it goes without saying that you are busy - VERY BUSY... right? However, being busy doesn't necessarily mean that you’re heading in the direction you intended to go now does it?

So, humor me: Sit back, put your hands down and take a couple of deep breaths. Take a step back and clear your head. Now that we've momentarily interrupted the constant buzzing in your brain, let’s stay here just long enough for you to examine the FOCUS of your activity. Ask yourself this one often polarizing question; "ARE YOU MOVING FORWARD OR JUST SPINNING YOUR WHEELS"? It's a GREAT QUESTION. Just because we’re constantly moving, doesn't necessarily mean we’re ’MOVING FORWARD' now does it? We've all watched a dog chasing its tail. Those feisty, energetic canines really think they're getting somewhere and for a few moments, it actually looks as though they're making progress. They're a virtual whirlwind of activity. Of course in the end, even though they may have made a "Big Show of it" - they’ve gone ABSOLUTELY NOWHERE!

In order to achieve your goals, Specifically NEW ONES, it’s important to access your activity from time to time. Take a cold, hard, honest look. Is it possible that BECAUSE you're so "busy", all of your constant running around might just have you going in circles?

Well, if you're serious about making a change and achieving new goals, take heed…this sad situation recently HAPPENED TO ME! I've been at this work of mine (my passion), for 21 years now. Just two weeks ago,  I was brought face to face with the uncomfortable realization that my whirlwind of activity was ACTUALLY KEEPING ME FROM moving forward and ACHIEVING the goals which I'd set for myself  NEARLY FIVE YEARS AGO! How I came to this conclusion was painful and much too long to get into while on your watch. Perhaps another time - Ok, I promise! But for now, it's a lesson from which we all can learn.

SO, take a look in the mirror. Is it possible that you're SUCCESSFULLY doing the same old thing - yet because of your SUCCESS and constant buzzing about, you're being duped into believing that you're Moving Forward? Look closely. Are you heading toward your target? Or in reality, are you (very successfully), spinning your wheels?

IT’S A DARN GOOD QUESTION NOW ISN'T IT? Be brave and be honest with yourself. WE can only change what we're able to acknowledge. SO, want to make a change? Take a close look at how you're spending your time. IF you're chasing your tail...cut it off! It’d be much better to live out your dreams without a tail, then to miss out completely because you’re stuck chasing it.

LIFE IS SHORT… SO RUN AFTER YOUR DREAMS and DON’T LOOK BACK!
Now, after a cold hard look…. I know I am! Why wouldn’t you?

 Until next time, remember this:
"The difference between ordinary people and extraordinary people is this: Extraordinary people are the people who are willing to do what others will not”!

The choice is yours -
BE EXTRAORDINARY and LIVE AN EXTRAORDINARY LIFE!
Nothing is more worthy of your time than that.

Power On,
Candace

Monday's Motivational minute: "Are You A Tigger or an Eeyore"

SO, it's Monday and your Monday morning wake up calls can have you either jumping out of bed and onto the mattress, or rolling over trying to crawl under it? Why is that? I wonder about these things and after working with what must be literally thousands of people by now, it's been my experience that most would agree - they either pull the covers over their heads, in an attempt to hide till it's Friday again or they bound out like Tigger from Winnie the Pooh! So, what's the difference?

Our attitude over our circumstances. It plays a huge role as to whether or not we "FEEL" we have something to look FORWARD TO! A vacation, a trip coming up, an event that evening or something, anything out of the ordinary to hook our wagon to. How Sad. This pervasive, "thrill me or I'm not having fun" mentality is honestly full of crap! Oh how I loath that type of circumstantial based living. Years ago, I used to do the same. I was constantly letting my circumstances dictate my attitude. I lived from one adventure to the next but in between, my hidden attitude was much like that of a "closeted Eeyore", who's outlook can best be summed up by a famous quote from the despondent donkey himself, "Days, weeks, months..who knows....", feel familiar?

SO, how do you make a change. Well in all situations involving change the first necessary element for success is wanting to - 'change that is'. Next, look at what you're missing? You miss being 'present' today because you're waiting for a tomorrow that's gonna be better. Problem is that when tomorrow comes, in many cases it leaves you slightly disappointed , SO you start waiting for "IT",,all over again. In the mean time friend, YOUR DAY TO DAY LIFE IS JUST ON PAUSE and You're the one hitting the button. SO, here's the magic....'MAKE YOUR ATTITUDE FOLLOW YOUR ACTIONS' and NOT the other way around!

No, not simple...at first, but oh yeah, it works. You want to be more cheerful, ACT HAPPIER,(everyone around you would sure appreciate it ..REALLY). Do you think your day ahead of you sucks? Guess what, you just sealed the deal. How do I know it works? Once upon a time I woke up, went to work and in short order found myself lying on a gurney in a Helicopter, being flown to Shock Trauma .I was gushing blood with glass embedded throughout my entire body ...I had just BROKEN MY NECK and shredded my face and almost bought the ranch! Know what I wanted to look forward to right then? JUST ANOTHER DAY ...prayerfully ,with me IN IT!

It is one of several events that I am now - "OH SO THANKFUL FOR"! Seriously, Full throttle, life threatening events that have shaken me into the truth.."all things are to be celebrated, even simply 'GETTING UP' "!

There is a book called "Happiness is a Choice" and I highly recommend it because it is TRUE. In this life, we find what we look for. SO, Happy Monday from one who's now a Tigger through and through and in the words of Tigger himself, I'll leave this greating with you; "The wonderful thing about Tiggers.....Is Tiggers are wonderful chaps. They're loaded with vim and vigor and they love to leap in your laps"!

Make today and everyday, GREAT! It's a choice - All circumstances aside.
Till Tomorrow, Power on

Monday's Motivational Minute: "You're a Materspiece of Potential"

So here we are… another Monday. I hear they tend to roll around about once a week!! Seriously though, how are you doing today friends? Ya know, I find Mondays to be the great equalizer! Mondays have taken down more than their fair share of the most convincing, GRANDIOSE plans… spoken with greatest conviction just days before. You know the scenario. We’ve all been there. These are the goals and dreams most often shared among the best of friend when a “couple of cold ones” are being passed around. There was ABSOLUTELY NO lack of conviction then. There was no swaying you from your dreams Saturday night, but today hit and NO PLAN OF ACTION WAS PUT IN PLACE…NO PLANS TO GET THE BALL ROLLING. SO where’s the magic? Well, the difference is this. You have a dream, what you need is a goal, and the difference between the two is simple…..A TIME LINE! A decision to make an action plan and stick to it!

SO, let me quote my favorite author on the subject, John C. Maxwell… and let his genius sum this up.

Then I suggest you go get his little book…”MAKE TODAY COUNT” and oh yea, READ IT ! Then you’ll be well on your way to turning your dreams into REALITY; or as he puts it…making your life into “A master piece of potential”…..here’s Maxwell;

“The Ingredients necessary to make every day a masterpiece are; DECISIONS AND DISCIPLINE:

Good Decisions - Daily Discipline = a plan without a payoff.

Daily Discipline – Good Decisions = Regimentation without Reward

Good Decisions + Daily Discipline = A MASTER PIECE OF POTENTIAL"
(*John C. Maxwell, 'Make Today Count')

In my words, that daily discipline = planning your work and working your plan, with a definitive time line!

SO, make Mondays the most exciting day of the week. It’s with the power of our choices, (decisions and discipline) that our potential is either chained tight or set free”!

Until Tomorrow,

MAKE TODAY COUNT….
